From Sue:
I was doing some "finish up work" on the Webbers that was laying on my desk and this Alpha Webber kept nagging at me as I didn't have her anywhere in our Missouri, Illinois, or Arkansas Webbers. I had Noah Greathouse because his daughter, Opal, married Samuel Boatman, son of James Alvin Boatman and Amanda E. "Mank" Webber.
1 CONT Also I had checked Noah and he seemed to be on all the census' with wife, Dora, from the time they were married in Webster Co., Missouri on Dec 12, 1893 through 1930 in Baxter County. I couldn't find a divorce in either MO or AR (but you'll see later there must have been one). Then I checked to see if there were other Noah Greathouse with birth dates near his 1875 date and found none.
1 CONT When I ran Alpha Webber in all of the US in 1900 I only found one fitting the requirements. She was in Richland Co., Ill, daughter of Robert and Catherine (Libbie) Webber. She was still with them in Illinois in 1910 and they never moved to Arkansas. I couldn't (or didn't try) to fit this Robert Webber into John Monroe.
1 CONT But then I thought that Noah must be a bigamist Nope, Baxter County Marriages by Vera Reeves has Noah marrying Dora again on Nov 10, 1919. So---- here's his agenda:
1 CONT Born Aug 28, 1875 in Webster Co., MO
Married Dec 12, 1893 in Webster County to Dora A. Vestal
They had 8 children; the last born in MO in 1913
By January 1914 he had somehow met and married Alpha Webber
Aug 7, 1916 "Of Grave Importance" has infant son of N. A. Greathouse & A. born. Died Aug 8.
Sep 12, 1918, Noah Allen Greathouse from Mountain Home registers for WWI. He's in the Arkansas State Peniteniary and gives the name of Celia Greathouse in Webster Co., MO as his contact person.
Nov 10, 1919, Dora and kids had moved to Arkansas and she and Noah got married again.
Nov 14, 1919 issue of Baxter Bulletin has Alpha marrying Harry Studdard.
April 5, 1931 Noah shot and killed by Bud Webber (Sam Boathouse was present)
1 CONT I didn't bother tracing all the Greathouse kids although some of them married in Baxter County but I think most of them and Dora moved back to Missouri after Noah was killed. Because of the timing, there is no census record of Noah and Alpha and I didn't carry this any further since Alpha wasn't an immediate member of our family.
1 CONT Noah must have been some rounder I wonder what he did to get sent to the Pen and if that contributed in some way to the shooting.
