1 CONT Funeral services for longtime Owasso resident Romola Edith Cooper, 74, were Monday, Nov. 27, 2006 at Bethel Baptist Church in Owasso with Pastor Andrew J. O'Kelley and Pastor Bill Ascol officiating.
1 CONT Committal and interment services followed at Green Acres Memorial Gardens in rural Owasso. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
1 CONT Cooper was born Oct. 20, 1932 to Homer Luther and Mabel Edith (Russell) Wood in Council Hill. She died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2006.
1 CONT She completed her education attending Oklahoma Baptist University at Shawnee.
1 CONT She married Vernon Lee Cooper on Aug. 2, 1957 in Bartlesville. While living in Bartlesville, she worked with Union National Bank as a bookkeeper. She and Vernon moved to Owasso in 1971 where she worked with the First Bank of Owasso.
1 CONT Cooper was a Christian and a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church in Owasso. She worked many years with the church serving in the bus ministry, adult choir and as a children's Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed her time at church and serving the Lord in many ways.
1 CONT Survivors include her husband, Vernon of the home; one son, Vernon Lee Cooper Jr. and wife, Debbie, of Nixa, Mo.; three granddaughters, Desire' Miller and husband, Matthew, of Springfield, Mo., Rebekah Cooper of Jefferson City, Mo., and Leah Cooper of Nixa, Mo.; one brother, Richard Wood and wife, Wanda, of Minneapolis, Minn.; and one sister, Christine McElroy and husband, Charles, of Bartlesville.

1 CONT DUNCAN -- Funeral for Joe Bill Wisdom, 87, Duncan, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at New Hope Baptist Church West, Duncan, with the Rev. Randy Southerland officiating.
1 CONT Mr. Wisdom died Wednesday, May 31, 2006, in Duncan.
1 CONT Burial with military honors will be in Highland Cemetery, Lawton, under direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home, Duncan.
1 CONT He was born Nov. 4, 1918, east of Loco, to William Elmer and Kadie P. Morgan Wisdom. He graduated from Loco High School and attended Cameron State Agricultural College and Oklahoma A&M. He entered the Marine Corps in 1940. He went overseas in March 1943 and served with the 5th Amphibian Tractor Battalion, 4th Marine Division in Saipan, Tinian and Iwo Jima during World War II. He was wounded in action in Saipan and Iwo Jima in 1944. His unit received two presidential citations for extraordinary heroism in action in Japan, Saipan and Tinian. He received a Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon with 3 battle stars and the Purple Heart. He was discharged in 1946. He married Dortha Maloney March 10, 1946, in Oklahoma City. She died Aug. 8, 1997. He retired from Halliburton Services in 1981 after 33 years. He became a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows in 1954 and served as past sovereign grand master and past grand master. He was a member of the Comanche Lodge. He was a charter member of New Hope Baptist Church West.
1 CONT Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law: Nancy Wisdom, Duncan; and Kae Kae and Jeff Spivey, Rush Springs; a brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Paula Wisdom, Richland Hills, Texas; a sister, Paula Robards, Sherman, Texas; grandchildren: Clayton Haworth, Bobby and Maricel Wilson, Angie Spivey and Chris Spivey; two great-grandchildren: Erick Wade Wilson and Angelica Wilson; and several nieces and nephews.
1 CONT He was preceded in death by a son, Larry; a daughter, Linda, a grandson, Erick; and two sisters: Reva Smith and Mildred Stokes.
