From Sue
1 CONT I know I told you that she married a McIntosh and died on July 21, 1941. This information came from the Smith Cemetery inventory taken by volunteers in Phelps County and posted on GenWeb. They seemed to list them by secitons (who they were buried next to, etc.) rather than alpha and she was with David and Minnie and I forget who else. Anyway, there's a Mary McIntosh buried with them born in 1904 (the 1910 census shows her about 1905) so I presumed it was her. HOWEVER, I can't find a marriage record for a Mary or Louise Yowell OR a McIntosh using Soundex. The closest I found was a Mary M. Calvin marrying a McIntosh in Phelps County. I've looked for Mary, Louise and plain old McIntosh with birthdates anywhere near theirs and can't find them so I don't know if I should believe the graveyard survey or not. I'll take another stab at Mary or Louise marrying a Calvin and maybe being a widow when she married McIntosh.
Well, I "might" have located her. The 1910 census lists her as Mary but she changed to Louise in the 1920 so I looked for Louise McIntosh and found:
1930 - Enid, OK, Louise McIntosh, age 26 (born about 1904) with MO, MO, MO. She's married to Elster McIntosh, born in OK. He's an automobile painter and she's the manager of a hosiery shop. SSDI shows him dying in California so, since the tombstone says she died in 1941, she either died in OK or CA or left him and returned to Phelps Co.
No proof of any of this but this is the closest I've come to locating her.
