1 CONT Denver J. Helsel, 67, of Bloomfield St., Johnstown, formerly of Elton, died Sunday, May 3, 1987, at home.
 Born June 1, 1919, in Elton, he was a son of the late George W. and Etta E. (Kring) Helsel.
 Mr. Helsel was preceded in death by two brothers, Percy and George Helsel.
 He is survived by his widow, the former Audrey Hargrave; son, Neal D., married to former Ann Hansen, Seminole, Fla.; daughter, Carolyn D., wife of Paul A. Witherow, Erie; also four grandchildren; Michele and Megan Helsel, Florida; Erin and Karl Witherow, Erie.
 Mr. Helsel was the brother of Hazel, widow of Faustin Baumgardner, Johnstown, and Margaret, wife of George R. Jones, Clearwater, Fla.
 He was retired from the appliance department of Penn Traffic Co. Mr. Helsel was a member of the Johnstown Junior Mechanics and Elton Zion United Methodist Church.
 A memorial service was held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 6 at the Elton Zion U.M. Church. Rev. Paul Morris officiated at the service.
 Interment at the convenience of the family will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Johnstown. The R. Owen Ketterer Funeral Home, Geistown, handled the funeral arrangements.
 The family requests donations be made to the Elton Zion United Methodist Church Kitchen Fund.
