Maxine Webber Partee wrote in a letter dated July 15, 1998 :
Eugene Roy (or Roy Eugene) Webber and Ida Marie: "I called Marie Webber, Eugene's wife, one day. We hadn't heard from her. Guess you knew she had to have both of her legs taken off. She had some teeth pulled or fixed, I can't remember which, but the Dr. done something and blood pressure set up and like to died. Winfred and I went out there to see her. She was in the awfulest shape. I told Winfred when we leave she would never make it but she did. That was before Gene Webber died. Now she lives by herself, she can walk with her new legs or get around in a wheel chair."
