Alexander McPherson (born about 1679 and died between 07 Jun 1761–22 May 1762) Records




Maryland In the name of God, Amen I Alexander McPherson of Charles County being sick and weak of body but of perfect mind and memory do make and ordain this my last will and testament –

First and principally I commit my soul unto the hands of my blessed maker trusting in his mercy and the merits of my Dear Redeemer the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of all my sins and eternal happiness my body I commit to the earth to be decently buried in such place and manner as my Executrix hereafter named shall think proper as to my Temporal Estate after all my Debts are pain I bequeath and dispose of in the manner following.

Imprimis I give and bequeath to my loving wife Eliza McPherson during her natural life the plantation whereas I now Dwell and all the land belonging and adjoining thereto as also all my personal Estate during her natural life.

Item I give and bequeath to my son Alexander McPherson and his heirs forever a tract of land called Pomfrett containing by estimation seventy five acres after my wifes decease

Item I give & bequeath to my son Mark McPherson and his heirs forever one trace of land called McPhersons Benefit containing eighty acres after my wifes decease

Item I give and bequeath to my granddaughter Eliza McPherson one feather bed and furniture tow cows & calves one iron pott one pewter dish and six pewter plates after my wifes decease

Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Ann McDonald one feather bed & furniture and six head of sheep after my wifes decease

Item I give and bequeath to my granddaughter Dorcas Turner one feather bed and furniture after my wifes decease

Item I give and bequeath to Mary Beale one cow & calf after my wifes decease

Item I give and bequeath to my granddaughter Prisscilla McPherson one feather bed & furniture after my wifes decease

Item I give and bequeath unto William Grayliam all my right of law & two yearlings which are called his and I formerly gave him

Item I give and bequeath to my grandson Alexander McPherson one cow and calf after my wifes decease

Item I give and bequeath to my sons Wm, Alex John & Mark McPherson – all the remaining part of my personal estate to be equally divided between them after my wifes decease

Ultimately I constitute ordain & appoint my loving wife Eliza McPherson sole executrix of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal --- This seventh day of June anno Domini 1761 Signed sealed & delivered to be the last will & testament of the Testator in the presence of
Thomas Adams – John Garner --- Thos McPherson }                      Alexander (his mark) McPherson {seal}

Attested and on the oath of the forego J. will was the foll J. probates to wit;
Charles County this 22d May 1762 came Thomas Adams John Garner two of the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing will who being duly and solemnly sworn on the Holy Evangelists of Almighty God do depose and say that they saw the Testator Alexander McPherson sign and seal the foregoing will & head him publish and declare the same to be his last will and testament and that at the time of his so doing was to the best of their apprehensions of sound & disposing mind and memory and that they together with Thomas McPherson the other subscribing witness soverally (???) subscribed their respective names as witnesses to the said will in the presence of this Testator & at his request which probate was taken William McPherson the heir at law having signified that he has no objection.

Charles County this 22d May 1792 came Thomas McPherson the other subscribing witness to the foregoing will and made oath on the holy Evangels that he saw the Testator Alexander McPherson sign and seal the foregoing will and heard him publish & declare the same to be his last will & testament and that at the time of his so doing was to the best of their apprehension of sound & disposing mind and memory and that he together with the other witnesses signed his name as a witness to the said will in the presence of the Testator and at his request

Charles County S. 16th August 1763 – Came Elizabeth Macpherson Exectrix of Alexander Mcpherson late of Charles county deceased and made oath on the Holy evangels of Almighty God that the foregoing is a just and perfect inventory of all singular the goods and chattles which were of the said deceased that came to her hands at the time of making hereof that what hath since in shall hereafter come to her hands or possession she will return in an additional inventory. That she knows of no concealment of any part of the decds personal estate by any person persons whatsoever. That if she shall discover any concealment or suspect any to be she will acquaint the County Genl for the time being or his deputy with just discovery or cause of suspicion that it may be inquired into & that she will well & truly give an acct of every part & parcel of the decds personal estate that shall hereafter come to her hands , possession or knowledge Before Dan Jenifer D Co
