Whenever her schedule permitted, she enjoyed staying up late to watch the “Tonight Show” with Johnny Carson or, on Monday evenings, she tried to set aside time for the new hit program, “Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-in.” She still loved to listen to records and often played them late at night on the apartment's portable stereo set. She purchased several albums from the hospital's PX, including recording by Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, and the Mills Brothers. Two of her favorite songs during 1968 were Glenn Campbell’s hit, “By the Time I Get to Phoenix,” and the Cowsills’ “Indian Lake.”
