The Cowsills In Books

How To Form A Rock Group
by Leslie Lieber
Marcy Enterprises 1968

These four brothers are the performing nucleus of the Cowsill family (with an occasional assist from mini-mommy, Barbara Cowsill). But the whole family gets in the act in some way from father who "coordinates" to little sister who chimes in on tambourine. In order to afford all the instruments and equipment, the family lived for years in a dilapidated, 22-room Charles Addams type house without furniture in rural Rhode Island. Chance brought the group to the attention of talent-manager Leonard Stogel who introduced them to MGM records. America has taken the Cowsills to its heart and, with a long-term contract for the Ed Sullivan Show in their once-empty pockets, they've become one of the hottest properties in show business.
