. . . The music is big time but wide ranging: vertans include the Neville Brothers, the Marsalis brothers (and sometimes patriarch Ellis as well), Irma Thomas, Gladys Knight, Wilson Picket, the Indigo Girls, the Dave Matthews Band, Walter “Wolfman” Washington, Raful Neal, Kenny Neal, the Radiators, the Iguanas, Beausoleil, Buckwheat Zydeco, Joan Baez, and Van Morrison. In recent years, it’s even included the alternative-grunge-country Wilco, bluesy-rock Black Crowes, fromer Beach Boy Brian Wilson, and Susan Cowsill of Cowsills fame. And such superstars asd Bruce Springsteen, Paul Simon, and Bob Dylan turned out in 2006 to ensure that the festival would not be washed away in Katriana’s wake. You just wander around until something grabs your fancy. There are related concerts at clubs and venues all around the city, some even on the water, and the streets are full.
