The advance guard is here for "Operation Entertainment,' ABC-TV producers scheduled to stage two shows at Ft. Gordon's Barton Field this week.

The 86-member regular crew of the show arrived in Augusta Saturday night including the "Operation Entertainment" girls, three beauties who are a big hit with servicemen everywhere the show appears.

Singer Florence Henderson, dancer Barrie Chase and "Ringo" and "McHale's Navy" star Tim Conway arrived here Sunday night.

One performer, however, was here all along. Pvt. Richard Cowsill, currently stationed at Ft. Gordon, is one of the singing "Cowsills" who will perform Tuesday.

Almost 16,000 entertainment-hungry troops will visit Barton Field Tuesday and Thursday to enjoy the filming of two shows which will be televised nationwide Oct. 4 and Nov. 1 1968 respectively, and will be seen locally on Channel 6.

With Tim Conway as host the first show will feature, among others. Florence Henderson, Barrie Chase, the "Cowsills" comedian Rodney Dangerfield, and Los Cabrera, an acrobatic act.
