Find The Good
(John Cowsill - music, Bill Mumy - lyrics, Vicki Peterson - bridge)
Lead Singer: John

Note: Bill Mumy wrote of this song: The brand new ACTION SKULLS single and video, "FIND THE GOOD" from our upcoming new album, "FROM A RUNNING HORSE" was released yesterday on YouTube and Spotify and all the other places and Vicki, John and I want to thank you for your initial positive response. It's the first Skulls release in three years and we worked hard to bring some happiness and harmony your way. We wrote the song together. I wrote the lyric and gave it to John (who sings lead) and he wrote the music and then Vicki wrote the bridge music and lyric. We all sang many harmony parts. Vicki played acoustic and electric guitars. John played percussion and drums. I played my 1968 Fender Precision bass (that I bought new in 1968) my Rickenbacker 12 string and some piano. Thanks for supporting Indie music. There's more Action Skulls coming soon!

Fifteen birds in a sycamore tree
Perched up high looking down at me
Bowing my head, bending my knee
Asking for a reason why

All those years gone in a flash
Disappeared with most of my cash
Memories fade like smoke and ash
Looking for a reason why

Find the good, it's getting tougher
Find the good, the times are rougher
Wish I could, find the good.

My love moves like the waves at sea
Sees it out patiently (?????)
Let's me be who I must be
Doesn't need a reason why

Sat myself down in the sun
Closed my eyes, came all undone
Couldn't find an answer what
Waiting on the reason why

Find the good, it's getting tougher
Find the good, the times are rougher (find are good)
Wish I could, find the good.

The rules we had in place are no longer clear
The boundaries too have disappeared
And we're still standing here
Until we have the insight to see the world thru multi-colored eyes

Rode my pony to the river bed
Sunset glowing a fiery red
Tried to hear what the river said
Listen for a reason why

Filled the vase with flowers new
Doing what I'm supposed to do
Picked them fresh from where they grew
Love's the reason why (love's the reason why)

Find the good; it's getting tougher (to find the good)
Find the good, the times are rougher
Wish I could, (wish I could, wish I could)
Wish I could, (wish I could, wish I could)
Wish I could, (wish I could, wish I could)
Find The Good
Find The Good
Find The Good

New House
(Vicki Peterson)
Lead Singer: Vicki

Is there a room in the new house for me?
Is there a room in the new house for me?
I follow the bread crumbs to your door
You know what I came here for
Is there a room in the new house for me?
Is there a secret place hiding the key?

Are you keeping things in from me?
All the stories I heard, I can't believe
I ain't stupid, a little naive
Is there a secret place hiding the key?

Taking time to figure it out
We see the same star light
You keep locking me out, it's alright, alright

Should I climb through the window at night?
Tried the door, but the code I had was not right
All the numbers are re-arranged,
All the passwords have been changed
Should I climb through the window at night?

Can't know what I'm talking about
We see the same star light
You keep locking me out, it's alright, alright

There's no room in the new house you built
Made of grass, dandelions and silk
If it's standing in a year or ten
I'll come back and try it again
There's no room in the new house you built
There's no room in the new house you built

May You Love Everything
(Billy Mumy)
Lead Singer: Billy Mumy, John and Vicki

Some of us are laughing
Too many crying
I see people giving up
I see people trying

It's not for me to tell the wind which way it should be blowin'
But I tell you, sir, I know for sure that
Love needs to be growing

There's an age old fable, a moral to be learning
Share what's on your table with those you see are yearning
Some are hungry, some are dry, some are sleeping in the rough
Some are dying in their footsteps; some have suffered way too much

And when you're looking down at this blue spinning ball
From high atop the angels view, we surely seem so small
And with every drop of rain, with every grain of sand
May you feel the joy and pain, may you understand
May You Love Everything
May You Love Everything
May You Love Everything
May You Love

In a conversation I was having with my neighbor
She said she was uncomfortable asking for a favor
Isn't that the way it seems to be most everywhere
Fear and doubt when reaching out
To wonder if we care

And when you're looking down at this blue spinning ball
From high atop the angels view, we surely seem so small
And with every drop of rain, with every grain of sand
May you feel the joy and pain, may you understand
May You Love Everything
May You Love Everything
May You Love Everything
May You Love

It's not for me to tell the wind which way it should be blowin'
But I tell you, sir, I know for sure that
Love needs to be growing

And when you're looking down at this blue spinning ball
From high atop the angels view, we surely seem so small
And with every drop of rain, with every grain of sand
May you feel the joy and pain, may you understand
May You Love Everything
May You Love Everything
May You Love Everything
May You Love Everything
May You Love Everything

May You Love
May You Love
May You Love

Rounding The Square
(Bill Mumy / John Cowsill / Vicki Peterson)
Lead Singer: Vicki and John

You don't want anyone
To give you the facts of it.
You don't need anyone to show you around

You got the lay of the land,
It's your plan
You're the big man in town.

You say you got no problems
You got no problems

You got a paper bag with billions inside of it
You got the rest of the world on a string
Why don't they just put a crown on your head and admit you're the king

They say you got no problem
You got no problem
Baby, you got no problem rounding the square

(Rounding the square) Try, try, try to make us understand
(Rounding the square) Try, try, try to be better
Whatever you spend, out foxing your friends
Try, try, try and better try it again.

What if I told you that I have the answers, baby?
Would you believe in me? Believe in us? Believe in love?

Notification banners light up my screen
I look with one eye open
Man, what a scene
I must recuse myself, 'scuse me, I'll remove myself
You know what I mean

They say you got no problem
You've got no problem
Baby, you got no problem rounding the square

(Rounding the square) Try, try, try to make us understand
(Rounding the square) Try, try, try to be better
The creme de la creme , you're smarter than them
Try, try, try, try yeah!

(Rounding the square) Try, try, try to make us understand
(Rounding the square) Try, try, try to be better
Whatever you spend , out foxing your friends
You gotta try try try , you'd better try it again.

Making California Magic
(Bill Mumy / John Cowsill / Vicki Peterson)
Lead Singer: John and Vicki

Jan was from the west side, and a lot of money
Mike was pumping gas most every day
Meanwhile there was Brian married to his honey
He was looking for a place to stay

Someone in the room turned on the tape recorder
Who knew the future would be tragic
Everyone was having fun, studying
Me out in the sun
Making California Magic

Fathers did what fathers do and clouds were rising
Work and play, play and work all night
Harmony is so comical, it seems surprising
Color taking over black and white

Someone in the room turned on the tape recorder
Who knew the future would be tragic
Everyone was having fun, studying
Me out in the sun
Making California Magic

They have come and surf that wave
Singing a tune, no misbehave
Making magic, on and on
It's only music (It's only music) what could go wrong
Making magic with your song

Miss the turn, you don't come back from Dead Man's Curve, no
Brian cried "Get me out there, Slide"
Lost his smile, lost her ___ and lost her nerve oh
Wake up hard from the waves inside

Someone in the room turned on the tape recorder
Who knew the future would be tragic
Everyone was having fun, studying
Me out in the sun
Making California Magic

Someone in the room turned on the tape recorder
Who knew the future would be tragic
Everyone was having fun, studying
Me out in the sun
Making California Magic
Everyone was having fun,
Studying, me out in the sun
Making California Magic

First Thing You'll Be
(Bill Mumy, Vicki Peterson, John Cowsill)
Lead Singer: Billy Mumy, John and Vicki

We both said things that weren't very kind
Don't dig too deep, you never know what you'll find
Now the first thing you'll be is the last thing on my mind.

It's hard to believe that I could leave this behind
As clean as a whistle, all the papers I signed
The first thing you'll be is the last thing on my mind.
The first thing you'll be is the last thing on my mind.

Now that we're here, here in this place and time
Who will drive, who will steer
Where will we be when it all tumbles down
Why does a love disappear

I'll take the blame, I've made my own bed,
I could have stayed with the mess that I made, but I'm running instead
Now the first thing you'll be is the last thing on my mind.
The first thing you'll be is the last thing on my mind.

On my mind (Now that we're here)
Here in this place and time
Who will drive, who will steer (on my mind)
Where will we be when it all tumbles down
Why does a love disappear

We both said things that weren't very kind

California
(Tom Petty)
Lead Singer: Billy Mumy

California's been good to me
Hope it don't fall into the sea
Sometimes you got to trust yourself
It ain't like anywhere else
It ain't like anywhere else

It's time to roll, I'm all done
It's time we better hit the road
I got work later on
Yeah, it's time we better hit the road

California's been good to me
Hope it don't fall into the sea
Sometimes you got to save yourself
It ain't like anywhere else
It ain't like anywhere else

Sundown, red skies
Nobody's been around
Sundown, blue eyes
I kinda like this party town

California's been treated me good
I pray to God that the hills flood
Sometimes you got to trust yourself
It ain't like anywhere else
It ain't like anywhere else
It ain't like anywhere else

California's been good to me.

My Scholarship
(Billy Mumy)
Lead Singer: Vicki

I won myself a scholarship to life
And ended up a drunken a**-hole's wife
He left me with a habit and a scar
And this rusted, busted, piece of jack-s*** car

If you could help me to buy a tank of gas
I'm trying to make it back to the middle lower class
Kindness is a rarity and I can use the charity

One more Daddy's daughter headed home
One more highway tinted monochrome
One more gray sky, failing to turn blue
One more dream of mine that's never coming true

I don't mind the rain, I don't mind the cold,
I don't mind a little pain, I don't mind growing old
I don't mind admitting I feel blue
Sometimes I think my numbers due

One more Daddy's daughter headed home
One more highway tinted monochrome
One more gray sky, failing to turn blue
One more dream of mine that's never coming true

Ain't got no money in my purse,
It's hard to say it, it could be worse
I need some fuel for this old ride
Maybe we could go inside

I won myself a scholarship to life

So Sad (To Watch Good Love Go Bad)
(Don Everly))
Lead Singer: Billy Mumy and Vicki

We used to have good times together
But now I feel them slip away
It breaks my heart, to see us part
So sad to watch good love go bad

Remember how you used to feel, dear?
You said nothing could change your mind
It makes me cry to see love die
So sad to watch good love go bad

Is it any wonder that I feel so blue
When I know for certain that I'm losing you

Remember how you used to feel, dear?
You said nothing could change your mind
It makes me cry to see love die
So sad to watch good love go bad

Is it any wonder that I feel so blue
When I know for certain that I'm losing you

We used to have good times together
But now I feel them slip away
It breaks my heart, to see us part
So sad to watch good love go bad

So sad to watch good love go bad

Waiting for Day
(Vicki Peterson)
Lead Singer: Vicki

Making hay while I can
I'm as patient as any man
Shielding my eyes when the folks on the rise
I'll be OK
I'm here waiting for day

Trading places with you
That's not something I want to do
Night after night I'm making it right
What can I say?
I'm here waiting for day

Well the morning comes
I will celebrate the ultimate, life is better yet
My darling one, I'll be happy
And I'll make believe I don't have to be here

Well the morning comes
I will celebrate the ultimate, life is better yet,
My darling one, I'll be happy
But I can't believe that I have to leave

Pay me well for my time
I'll be happy to take your dime
But I have some news that
I am ready to choose
I'm going to lose these evening time blues
I will live for the day
I will live for the day
I'm here waiting for day

Dreamcatcher
(Bill Mumy / John Cowsill / Vicki Peterson)
Lead Singer: Vicki

Sleep, sleep, I will catch your dream
Child pose, eyes are closing
Where will you go now?

Sleep, sleep, I will catch your dream
Child pose, eyes have closed
Where will you go now

Dream, Dream, Dream
